Ruth 1:16 “…Wherever you go, I will go; and wherever you stay, I will stay. Your people will be my people, and your God will be my God.”

This is a story about how God restores those who look to Him with hope. As a child, Ruth is sold to a group of pagans and is raised to be a priestess for their gods and idols. However, as an adult she meets a Hebrew named Mahlon whom she falls in love with and adopts his faith. Soon after, they began to be persecuted. Mahlon was sent to prison, and Ruth was cast into the wilderness. Tragically, their love story ends in the death of Mahlon and leaves Ruth clinging to hope.
I often think about the plans I had as a child and how I imagined my life would be when I “grew up.” Then, I stop and look at my life through a two-way mirror. The way others see it and the way it is. My life is far from how I pictured it, but it is exactly how God planned it. When God blessed me with my husband, I never imagined the hard times that would follow the happiness. When my heart longed for children, never did I think I would have to wait 13 years. When God blessed me with children, nothing could have prepared me for the journey of dealing with a congenital cataract in my daughter's left eye that would lead to two different eye surgeries by age two.
GOD CAN TRANSFORM YOUR HOPELESS SITUATION
Just like the story of Ruth, God turned a hopeless situation into something beautiful. Because of her loyalty, God rewarded her. I have felt hopeless. Nevertheless, God continues to bless my marriage of 17 years. He gave me two of the greatest gifts- my children Luca and Esri. And, even though she is legally blind in her left eye, my daughter continues to thrive as a strong, healthy, happy young girl.
Life is a series of unknowns, but when you trust God with everything, He will turn your hopelessness into something beautiful.
PRAY THIS PRAYER
God, Thank You for Your faithfulness. Thank You for being my provider, my protector, my healer, my source of comfort. I love You not for what You do, but for who You are. Despite my shortcomings, You have never left me. Help me to remember who I am as a child of God and may I cling to You and find HOPE in the middle of my hopelessness. Amen.
